Training for the Community

My mission is to make psychological awareness and tools accessible to the most vulnerable in society. As a result, I partner with community groups such as Inside out wellbeing, partisan, Lighthouse Fellowship, Beleuh Apostolic Churches, Movement Against Racism to conduct workshops and training to equip people from deprived communities that often face stigma and healthcare discrimination can gain psychoeducation and learn ways to improve their mental health.

Training Structure

Trainings are held in person or via zoom. In these training we identify the common mental health challenges affecting the community and use case studies, psychoeducation, videos and feedback to make it interactive, relatable and applicable to our audience. We occasionally conduct surveys before workshops in communities and connect with local mental health service such as IAPT to understand the challenges affecting the area we are targeting.

Why?

Given the overwhelming struggles affecting the mental health of people from deprived communities, more needs to be done to support their mental health. Whilst much work needs to be done by the government to support NHS to tackle this problem. I believe all Psychological Therapist and Practitioners should make it our duty to support those from deprived communities. We can think of ways to support our local communities and partner with them to offer psychoeducation, basic tips and techniques or signposting people to services that can support them. I have made it my mandate to not only profit from my role as Therapist but to help solve the problem of mental health.
